What an experience Summer is at this point, as July ends and August begins. Everything is at it’s height of intensity. We are all saturated with the season, and now on to one more shining month. The heat, the flowers and all that color, the humid air, and the crowds at the beach spark our senses. The energy is welcome.

Only two minutes and thirteen seconds long, the song “Little Martha” sticks with you. Duane Allman composed the song after seeing Jimi Hendrix in a dream coming out of the clouds playing the melody. Now that is a real double dose of creative input, one worldly, one otherworldly.  The song stuck in Duane’s head, and is still sticking around forty-seven years after his death.

I hope the Democrats  in this country are not trusting the same pollsters who predicted that Hillary Clinton would be president. These midterm elections could throw them for a loop. Money in the pocket far outweighs President Trump’s romantic indiscretions. I believe many Democrats have no desire to impeach President Trump. They too have more money in their pockets. The economy is growing, and everyone benefits.

Facebook and my family and friends left me in the dust many years ago. Thankfully, I never got the hang of all that posting and following. I never posted a picture of myself. Not knowing everything, about everybody I know, everyday, is a blessing. I respect their privacy even if they don’t.

Retirement, the final frontier. Can’t be that bad, but the word creeps with foreboding. I am not prepared as well for retirement than other folks. They played their cards well. Still working on it. Still working. Not worried, only accepting of my fate. I will be working right up to the end. If well enough, I will be able to take the job to dig my own grave.

Fourth of July

I think back on this July Fourth to July 4, 1976. I was standing in the room where the Declaration of Independence was adopted exactly two hundred years before. In the forty-two years to today, I cannot remember one day when there wasn’t discourse, argument, or protracted hostility in this great nation- not one day. The founding fathers fought constantly amongst themselves. They made certain to craft a constitution that would allow for human nature’s opposing views. Those who despair that the present time in our country is horribly unprecedented, are too timid for the debate. The Constitution invites you all out into the light. Happy Fourth of July!
