I think back on this July Fourth to July 4, 1976. I was standing in the room where the Declaration of Independence was adopted exactly two hundred years before. In the forty-two years to today, I cannot remember one day when there wasn’t discourse, argument, or protracted hostility in this great nation- not one day. The founding fathers fought constantly amongst themselves. They made certain to craft a constitution that would allow for human nature’s opposing views. Those who despair that the present time in our country is horribly unprecedented, are too timid for the debate. The Constitution invites you all out into the light. Happy Fourth of July!
